Writer, on writing February 3, 2014

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these. Here’s a new one.

The difference between romance, erotic romance, erotica and porn, in layman’s terms.

  • Romance: Your conventional soap opera on network television, or something you’d see on Lifetime or Hallmark.
  • Erotic romance: Something you’d see on HBO or Showtime
  • Erotica: Something you’d see on Cinemax (anyone else remember when we used to call Cinemax Skinemax?)
  • Porn: Something that would only show up on the special channels with the blue filter (showing my age here). Also, something you can only get on pay-per-view.
So, on this scale, my writing is Showtime, with occasional forays into Cinemax.
