Have you seen that meme?

Sounds an awful lot like my writing life, actually. Now that I’m actually not on deadline, it’s time to make sense of the projects that have been in the queue for a while. So, here’s the ever-increasing To-Do list.

To Write:

    • Bonds of Blood and Steel (Sable Locks sequel)
    • The Sea Prince
    • The Willow Sword

To Edit

    • Hidden Things (Swords of Charlemagne Book 1)
    • Sins of the Father (Rebel Mage 3)

To Outline

    • Blood Bound
    • Holy Orders (Sequel to Heart’s Master)
    • The White Raven (sequel to Princes of Air)
    • The Lady and the Sword (Swords of Charlemagne Book 2)
    • Ashes and Light (Swords of Charlemagne Book 3)
    • Tablets of Stone (Swords of Charlemagne Book 4)
    • The Navigator (Steam and Screw, Book 1)
    • The Captain (Steam and Screw, Book 2)
    • Coral Throne (sequel to Sea Prince)
    • Temple of the Mysteries (maybe a shared world thing)

To Sell

    • Sapphires and Gold
    • Hidden Things

In addition, there’s a vague yet tantalizing idea set in the Rebel Mage universe — some small part of my brain wants to know what happens some twenty years down the line. Anything else I say on this will be spoilers for Sins of the Father, so that’s where I stop. But yeah… hrm… I wonder…

So… this happened. August 13, 2016

CounselWicked_CvrPDFSwirl Awards Finalist Badge

I do not yet know when the awards will be announced. But yay!!!!

In other news, Burden of Truth has been retitled. It is now Haven’s Fall, and it is with the line editor. I’ve been told that I’ll have edits back soon, and we’re shooting for a November release.

I’ve seen the cover, and it’s AWESOME. And that’s all I can tell you, so there. NYAH!!!

Sins of the Father is coming along, and is so far off outline that I can’t see the original route from here. I’m fairly certain that it will still end up in the same place, but instead of my original map, I’m taking the scenic back roads. Which have been educational — I never would have figured out that THAT character was the ultimate big bad otherwise. (Seriously, this one character has been thumbing their nose at me for two and a half books now.)

And in other, other news, I’ve found out that one of my publishers is closing their doors, and will be reverting rights. They’re being very lovely and generous about the whole thing, and even including cover art in the reversion. I’m sorry to see them go. But just when I think I’m out of the self-publishing gig…

You might notice I’m over. And I’m not done yet. There’s about a thousand words or so of wrap up, which I’m hoping to get done first thing tomorrow morning.

Homeschool:

Today we went to see The Nutcracker, which was awesome. Neither of us have ever been to the ballet before, so this was new and nifty. J. really enjoyed it.

Baking:

  • an indeterminate number of spritz cookies (I lost count).

This ends the holiday baking for 2015.

Writing:

I would have written more, but Nutcracker and baking. Spritz cookies are time consuming!

Homeschooling:

With the exception of a field trip, our homeschooling is done until the new year. J. completed 4th grade math today, and did quite well on the (unannounced) EOC test that I gave him (for my own peace of mind. This homeschooling thing is new. I’m still not sure I’m doing it right).

Baking:

  • 2 dozen molasses cookies

Homeschool:

Still in wrap up mode. Math, handwriting and The Odyssey. Found a documentary on Greek myths, but it was a bit too graphic for a nine-year-old.

Baking:

  • Three dozen oatmeal white chocolate cranberry cookies
  • Three dozen more chocolate chip cookies, because the first six dozen are all gone now (between husband’s work and the school where J. goes for gifted.)

There will be no baking tomorrow.
